I grew up in Lake Arrowhead, I knew the Humphrey family well, although I was closest to Danny. When my dad was sick, John called me almost every day checking on him for 6-7 months. He died peacefully in his sleep due to the latter stages of dementia.

In addition to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild, he is survived by his brothers, Jesse and Darryl (Laquetia); sister, Beverly Johnson (Jake) and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews. They also have three grandchildren, Sarah Ellen Mays, Nicodemus and Theodore Humphrey; and one great-grandson, Xavier Mays. Age 84, was called home on July 14, Pittsburgh, PA.

I am so very sorry to hear of John‘s passing.

John Humphrey, Jr., s. of Sgt. No more phone calls that start with him saying “What are you doing little girl?” Rest easy my friend, until we meet again. After the school years John, Danny & Neal would come by my house hangout and drink a few beers.
