The book is well structured, and the conversation is thought provoking, planting questions and ideas that readers will ruminate on long after the last page is turned. While working in Afghanistan as a music teacher, Ed Ayres faced some pretty confronting moments. The threat to the children that I have trained Happy to nip them on the ankles if they play out of tune has clearly failed, but Happy does have her standards. A simple stream of thoughts on the topic of sports development and running culture was somewhat enjoyable.Supposed to be a book about ultra-marathons, struggle with training regimes etc., so I chose this one for few runs as an audiobook. I particularly liked is as someone who enjoys endurance activities and further that the story was written with the backdrop of him competing in the JFK50 which I will be participating in later this year. "Ought to be required reading even for people who have never run a step. Decent book about the author running the JFK 50-miler, which I'll run in 3 months.
