The plot of the book is about a young boy named Leo who lives in San Francisco. I liked the plot, setting and characters in the story. I gave this book 4 stars because it was very interesting but was boring at times. I Survived was an ok book about a kid named Leo, his "annoying" friend Morris and two bullies named Wilkie and Fletch. Even though for young children, the books seem interesting for anyone.I like this book.
I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake, 1906 Printables, Classroom Activities, Teacher Resources| RIF.org TheRead this with one of my young readers and having lived in SF for 25 years and always been fascinated with its gold rush history and its long ongoing relationships with earthquakes, it was fun to read this along with a child of the city who did not know much about the epic historical earthquake of 1906 which decimated the city.
The water mains all broke in the earthquake and so the citizens of SF could do little but stand and watch the city burn before their eyes. Morris and Leo make a plan about how to take Leo's golden nugget back. He sells newspapers to get by because his father died of the fever and he has no family living nearby. You'll have to read this book to find out if Leo ever gets his gold nugget back...So the story is about this kid named Leo. So the story is about this kid named Leo. I feel bad for Leo and what he went through. He is a paper boy, he loves seeing new things, so he love his job. But soon he notices that he is in the middle of a gigantic earthquake. I thought it had a lot of detail and I felt like I was right there with Leo every step of the way. Published
The book "I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake, 1906" was a good historical novel. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. Meh. This one follows a young boy named Leo who is being bullied as he survives the earthquakes and fires that destroyed so much of San Francisco in 1906. Then again, she has learned a thing or two about avoiding being eaten by a shark. The story focused more on Leo and less on the earthquake than I would have preferred...however, it was engaging and does at least introduce students to this historical event so hopefully they will want to learn more. Leo says he doesn’t. Leo's world is shaken — literally — and now every second could mean the difference between life and death as the city crumbles and … I appreciated that the author included some additional information about earthquakes, what causes them, how they are measured, etc.I think what I liked here was how the story was about a lot more than the earthquake. Fletch and Wilkie start to fight Leo, but the ground beneath them begins to shake.Fletch runs off as bricks begin to fall from the building. Leo decides to sell the gold nugget, knowing Grandpop would understand. Small chapters are in this reading and there are good descriptions of the conflicts that are happening.

What I mean by that is when they had been hit by the enormous earth quake I wished they had been somewhere else when it had happened, the book had it happen to fast, I will not spoil anything about how it happened all I am going to confirm is that the story zoomed through that event way too fast. I have read other books from the series and this one is by far the most interesting one I have read. Children's books featuring bold and brave girls are both becoming easier for parents to find, and also cover a large range of ... A little fiction and a history lesson. it was really good but the sad part was how many people died 10 year old Leo is a newspaper boy in San Francisco he also needs money. Then Morris shows up, and the boys know it’s a trick. Author’s notes about the historic earthquake and facts about earthquakes are found at the back of the book. Wilkie gets him to hand over the sack containing their stash of stolen loot, and he gives the nugget back to Leo. The book was about a 10 year old boy named Leo.
